Tchibo is a German consumer-goods and retail brand founded in Hamburg in 1949, best known for its freshly roasted coffee, tea and coffee capsules, and for its weekly rotating non-food assortment of fashion, furniture, kitchenware and electronics. The company is wholly owned by the Herz family through the Maxingvest holding and is headquartered at Überseering 18 in Hamburg. It operates around 520 stores in Germany and roughly 340 more across Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey, plus supermarket depots and online shops. Coffee is roasted at its Stammrösterei in Hamburg-Hamm, while non-food products such as textiles are produced by contracted factories, with sustainability programmes (EP2) currently active in China.
